Shakeita Price, 28, grew up in the Darlington County community of Lamar but moved to Florence during her junior year in high school.

Price said she's gained a lot over the years through hard work and determination.

​

She added it discouraged her that there aren't many recreational opportunities for children in Lamar.

​

“As a child, there were a lot of different things that I didn’t have. So coming back to the Lamar community that I was raised in. And to see that you don’t have much here," said Price.
